Flight From Hawaii Makes Emergency Landing At SFO After Flight Attendant Dies

News – CBS San Francisco 1/25/2019
© Provided by Local News RSS EN-USSAN FRANCISCO INT’L AIRPORT (KPIX 5) – A flight from Hawaii to New York was forced to make an emergency landing in San Francisco late Thursday night after a flight attendant suffered a medical emergency mid-flight and died.
Hawaiian Airlines officials said Flight 50 left Honolulu bound for JFK airport in New York around 4:20 p.m. Hawaii time (6:20 p.m. Pacific.)

About three hours into the flight, a flight attendant suffered a medical emergency. The pilot came over the loudspeaker and asked if there were any doctors on the flight, and there were several on board.

Crews and doctors performed CPR on the flight attendant, but the flight attendant died.

The flight arrived at SFO around 11 p.m., and passengers spent a couple more hours in the jet before being allowed to deplane.

“It’s just confusing, trying to figure out what’s going on. I wasn’t sure what was happening, and not too many people were,” said Damien Stack, who was on Hawaiian Flight 50. “We knew it was a medical emergency, but we didn’t know specifically what it was, until after we landed.”

Passengers were asked to book their own flights to New York, which the airline is expected to reimburse. The plane left SFO shortly after 4 a.m., but it is unclear where the plane was headed.

No additional details were immediately available.

Edmunds' Expert Review

Overall rating

7.4 / 10The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar is a distinctive pick for a luxury SUV. For starters, there's the styling. Thanks to its swept-back exterior, it avoids the blocky look of many other SUVs. It's also atypical in terms of size and price since it splits the difference between small and midsize luxury SUVs.

Land Rover lets you pick among three available engines and gives you plenty of interior options to choose from. But equipping a Velar to your taste can be a daunting — as well as an expensive — task. A fully optioned Velar can cost as much as luxury SUV stalwarts such as the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE, which offer more power and interior space. Another drawback is the Velar's infotainment system. It looks great thanks to its dual-screen setup, but operating it frequently leads to driver frustration.

The luxury SUV market is a varied one, and each offering has its own particular set of strengths. If you like the Range Rover Velar's modern style, as well as its multitude of options for personalization, it's definitely worth a look.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar configurations

The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar is available in four trim levels, each with a greater number of standard features throughout. The undesignated base trim Velar is only available with one engine offering, but it has dual-zone climate control and adaptive suspension dampers. The S offers two additional engine choices along with more comfort and utility features. The R-Dynamic SE and the R-Dynamic HSE flaunt more stylish bodywork and bigger wheels.
The base Velar starts with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (247 horsepower, 269 pound-feet of torque) that's connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Standard feature highlights include adaptive suspension dampers, 18-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, automatic wipers, keyless ignition and entry, and LED headlights. Inside you'll find dual-zone climate control, simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a 40/20/40-split rear seat, two 10-inch infotainment touchscreens, two USB ports and an eight-speaker sound system.

Standard driver assistance systems include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, hill start assist, automatic emergency braking, and driver-adjustable drive settings for different surfaces including mud, sand and rocks.

The S adds two engine choices to the mix — a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 (380 hp, 332 lb-ft of torque) and a turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel-powered four-cylinder (180 hp, 317 lb-ft of torque). The S also includes 19-inch wheels, a power tailgate with a hands-free opening, auto-dimming side mirrors, leather upholstery, power-reclining rear seats, an 11-speaker Meridian sound system navigation, Jaguar InControl smartphone app integration, and traffic sign recognition.

Along with 20-inch wheels, the R-Dynamic SE receives more aggressive-looking bodywork and special exterior trim. The interior is swathed in perforated leather with microfiber-suede seat material and trim-specific finishes. Entertainment upgrades consist of a full-digital gauge cluster and a 17-speaker Meridian sound system. Driver assistance additions include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a driver attention monitor, and a surround-view parking camera.

The R-Dynamic HSE looks similar to the SE, but it rides on 21-inch wheels. The interior gains extended leather trimming and upgraded front seats (with massage, heating and ventilation functions). Adaptive cruise control, high-speed emergency braking and blind-spot assist are standard as well.

For 2019, every trim has the option of the smartphone package with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Most of the extra standard features of the higher trim levels are offered as options on the lower trims. And many optional packages are available across most of the trim levels. Notable picks include the On/Road package, a towing package and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Trim tested

Each vehicle typically comes in multiple versions that are fundamentally similar. The ratings in this review are based on our full test of the Land Rover Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic HSE (turbodiesel 2.0L inline-4 | 8-speed automatic | AWD).Read More

Driving

7.0Its relatively svelte and aerodynamic body lines suggest speed, but this diesel-powered Velar's best performance attribute is its brakes. Despite good thrust from a stop, the powertrain lacks responsiveness and feels anemic at speed. Meanwhile, its quick steering and soft suspension don't mesh well.Read More

Comfort

7.0The Velar's wonderfully comfortable seats make its stiff ride more tolerable. Adjusting the tire pressures can help, but it's only recommended under specific lig

"TELL ME SOMEBODY GOT THAT!?!?"

I have just executed what has got to be the most heroic drift out of a cresting right-hander at Bahrain International Circuit in Lamborghini's latest supercar. The name is Huracan Evo, and its 630-horsepower 5.2-liter V-10 and bright orange paint job scream almost as loud as I do.

VIEW 130 PHOTOS
"OH C'MON, NOBODY SAW THAT??"

I scan the track walls for the lenses of Lamborghini's hired shooters and the sky above for a drone I saw earlier. Nope. Guess I'll have to find another way to "do it for the 'gram." Such a pity, too, because Lamborghini has baked a ton of new features into the Evo, expressly for the social media generation.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra Pickup Is Spied Testing, and What's Going On Underneath?

More than a decade since its last makeover, the Tundra is ready for reinvention.

By ANDREW WENDLERJAN 24, 2019Brian WilliamsWhat It Is: The next-generation Toyota Tundra pickup undergoing testing near our offices in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with a Ford F-150 chase truck following close behind. While the front, side, and rear camouflage comes as no surprise, the underbody skirting and unique passenger-side rear wheel are of particular interest; more on those in a bit.

Why It Matters: Introduced for the 2000 model year, refreshed comprehensively in 2007, but with only a minor once-over in 2

How We Rank New Cars

READ HOW WE RANK USED CARSOur new car rankings are based on a consensus of America's top automotive experts, as well as safety and reliability data. The rankings do not rely on our own tests or U.S. News editors' preferences.

We combine two types of information: published reviews from respected automotive critics and safety and reliability data from third-party sources.

For each new car in the U.S. News rankings, our editors analyze credible reviews about the new car to assign a score that represents what professional critics say about it. The reviews are gathered from major newspapers, magazines and automotive websites. For each third-party review, we score the car on three different components:
  • Performance. The performance score represents the reviewer's written assessment of a car's handling, braking, acceleration, ride quality and other qualitative performance measures.
  • Interior. The interior score represents the reviewer's written assessment of the car's interior comfort, features, cargo space, styling and build quality.
  • Critics' Rating. This represents the overall tone and recommendation level reviewers place on a car.
In addition to the analysis of professional reviews, we add information of particular interest to new car shoppers, such as safety and reliability data, that isn't part of the critics' qualitative reviews.
  • Safety. The safety score is based on a compilation of scores from leading safety rating sources, including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
  • Reliability. The reliability score contributing to the U.S. News rankings is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).
  • Awards. Cars that win major automotive industry awards, such as the Motor Trend Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year, receive a bump in their Recommendation score to reflect the importance of these awards.

Mumford's Brizio-built '27 Track Roadster wins AMBR: America's Most Beautiful Roadster crowned in Pomona at 64th Grand National Roadster Show

As is often the case with the great roadsters, the Kelly Brown Track T has been a known commodity in rodding circles for somewhere around 30 years. All it needed was to finally get built and ...

This year, 2019, there are 14 roadsters vying for this most-coveted prize in all of rodding (Ridler who?). Those vary from George Poteet’s perfectly proportioned and delightfully detailed “3 Penny Roadster” and Steve Moal’s cleverly engineered track roadster made into a hot rod; and from Chad Adams’ Y Block-powered “Cool Hand Luke” ’32 roadster to Gary Corkell’s One Off Ford Phaeton. In between are Phaetons and hot rods all over the place, including one giant 1924 Buick that looks like it could transport an entire Building #4 full of fans over to Building #5.

Long-time builder Steve Moal knew exactly what he was making with his roadster.

Details on Win7 64 bit new install method & new JTIS21 X-Type archiveHi
The Details on Win7 64 bit new install method & new JTIS21 X-Type archive are listed here in this thread.

Now here are the details:

There is now a new install PDF file “Installing DA350.dll in Win7 64 bit ver 1.1” PDF file.

This file has step by step instructions and screenshots.

There are really only 4 steps in getting the software installed using this method:
Run Microsoft Help software file - 32 bit for 64 bit OS - Windows6.1-KB91760 - - this prepares the PC to handle 32 bit help files (using "run as administrator" option)

Put the DAO350.dll file into the correct folder, then register the DAO350.dll (using “run as administrator” option)

Run XP-Fix file – that is included in the Special Edited version archives or can be downloaded separately (using “run as administrator” option)

Run the setup.exe file in the JTIS21 folder to install the JTIS21 software (using “run as administrator” option)

That’s it – all done

Now here is the why and where information:

I started a new thread “JTIS21 Win7 64 install method & new archives” in the general tech section post #1:

JTIS21 win7 64 install method & new archives

I am repeating the same information here in this thread (and also in the other appropriate Jaguar model sections).

Well – Here is the initial information:

We finally have a way to install the JTIS21 Jaguar Shop manual on all the Win7 64 bit computers without having to install vitual machines or xp mode.

This is how it was accomplished:

By Plums furnishing the right technical information and advice on how to get it working properly

By yours truly finding the required files and putting them in proper locations (later doing the 1st successful install on my Win7 64 bit pro laptop) then writing the instructions and inserting the screen shots that are now in the install PDF file, also successfull install on Win7 64 bit Home premium desktop

By Translator furnishing other technical advice on improving the instructions and doing the 2nd & 3rd successful installs on other win7 64 bit computers

Translator has added all these files to the general tech help – Large Files download area.

Find the entry line in the Translator posting “JTIS21 CD download with instructions” within the thread (has this weblink embedded

Here the screen shot of the folders and files for the JTIS21 on the large files download area in the mediafire.com:

I created separate Special Edited versions of the JTIS21 by Jaguar model series as shown in the screenshot above.
